Description

Dynamics 365 system, initially implemented to manage work orders from BAE Systems, had failed to meet Denholm’s business requirements. After the project ran £30,000 over budget, you were brought in to assess and rectify the system. You collaborated with Denholm's stakeholders and BAE customers, gathering a backlog of 90+ requirements and user stories to guide the upgrade. You applied Agile methodologies to partition requirements into manageable sprints, overseeing each sprint from planning through User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to deployment. By managing the backlog, environment permissions, and all stakeholder communication, you ensured the system was finally functional and tailored to Denholm’s needs.

Scope

Overseeing the upgrade of Dynamics 365 for Denholm’s Industrial Services and Logistics business, managing work orders from BAE Systems, and working with over 90+ requirements through Agile sprints to ensure system functionality and improvement of work control processes.

Responsibilities

  1. Assessed the initial Dynamics 365 implementation, which exceeded its £50k budget by £30k and failed to meet business requirements.

  2. Collaborated with Denholm Industrial Services and Logistics stakeholders and BAE Systems customers to gather and document 90+ requirements and user stories, ensuring all critical needs were captured.

  3. Mapped out the entire work control process, highlighting red flags, problem areas, and identifying instances of duplicate effort, leading to a 20% reduction in wasted time and resources.

  4. Led backlog creation, partitioning the 90+ requirements into 10+ Agile sprints, ensuring each sprint addressed critical areas like work order management, user permissions, and reporting capabilities.

  5. Managed and facilitated sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring all sprints were delivered on time and within scope.

  6. Oversaw User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for each sprint, ensuring the business needs were met before deploying to the production environment. Defined test criteria and documented test cases to ensure thorough validation.

  7. Developed Power BI reports for stakeholders to track the progress of work orders, system adoption metrics, and sprint completion rates, improving project oversight and decision-making by 25%.

  8. Implemented automation using Power Automate to streamline work order management, reducing manual effort by 40%, and eliminating duplicate effort within the work control process.

  9. Managed environment permissions for the Dev, UAT, and Production environments, ensuring appropriate access levels for Denholm and BAE stakeholders to ensure system security.

  10. Worked closely with the third-party Dynamics 365 vendor to implement technical changes and ensure that the system met Denholm’s specific operational requirements, improving system functionality by 100%.
