Data Migration from JGL to DGL – Post-Merger Digital Integration

Project Overview

Following the merger of John Goods Logistics (JGL) and Denholm Goods Logistics (DGL), I led the end-to-end digital migration project to consolidate and restructure over 7.4TB of data across collaborative platforms and enterprise content systems.

Key Contributions

• Migration Execution: Oversaw the complete migration of SharePoint site collections, including document libraries, lists, permissions, and workflows.

• Microsoft Teams Consolidation: Migrated Teams channels, chat histories, shared files, and Planner tasks while preserving context and continuity across teams.

• Data Triage & Retention Compliance: Worked with stakeholders to classify assets for retention, archiving, or deletion—ensuring full compliance with both organisations’ data governance policies.

• Business Continuity: Maintained operational integrity by executing phased data moves with minimal user disruption and no data loss.

• Planning & Communication: Delivered clear migration plans, stakeholder briefings, and issue mitigation strategies to ensure transparency and alignment.

Outcomes

• 7.4TB of content successfully migrated with no reported data loss.
• SharePoint and Teams sites fully operational under DGL with restructured access and permissions.
• Project completed with zero operational downtime and full audit trail of data handling actions.
